Budweiser “Lager” Beer

Anheuser-Busch Budweiser, and Budějovický Budvar.

The history, mystery and legal trade conflicts make Budweiser Lager Beer, almost unique. The Anheuser – Busch Budweiser, St. Louis, U.S.A, “King of Beers”, slogan could be an indirect link of the U S A, 'Budweiser' to King Otakar, 11th of Bohemia, who granted independent brewers of Budweis, the right to produce beer in early 1265. This style of beer follows the method developed in the Czech City of Plzen [Pilsen].

This beer is know worldwide as “Pilsner”.

There is an historical, but un-proven, belief, that the joint parent company of Anheuser- Busch Budweiser, and Budějovický Budvar, disbanded all records destroyed, when rumours of war started to circulate in 1910.

Disputes over the Budweiser trademark have gone on over the years in many countries. Anheuser- Busch Budweiser, St Louis, believed they should have sole use of the Budweiser name. But the linguistic translation of Budějovický is Budweiser

An agreement was reached in 1911 that allowed Anheuser- Busch to use the Budweiser brand solely in North America. In the United States and Canada the Budějovický Budvar Beer Budweiser is sold as Czechvar.
